What Does this MRI Scan Result Mean?

I just got the results back on an MRI of my low back and would like to know what these findings mean before I go into see the surgeon. Here are the findings: Intervertebral disc desiccation most prominent at L4-L5 and L5-S1. There is minimal lumbar vertebral compression fracture. There are degenerative endplate changes with high FLAIR signal eccentric to right posteriorly at L4-L5

Hello

MRI findings indicate degenerative changes in lumbo-sacral spine.
Degenerative changes are generally age related findings.

At L4-5 and L5-S1 level, there is intervertebral disc desiccation(means loss of water from inter vertebral disc) .
There is minimal lumbar vertebral compression fracture,it may be due to osteoporosis.
At L4-5 level, there is also end plate changes in intervertebral disc.

All these findings are consistent with degenerative spine disease.

Majority of degenerative disc disease patients are benefited by conservative treatment in the form of physiotherapy, analgesics and muscle relaxants.

Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.

It is important to know other factors like status of nerve roots, disc prolapse etc.

If you have only these findings then these are minor changes and you may need only conservative treatment.

Get well soon.
Take Care
